A Voice for Huckabee
John from Berks Conservative made a comment on my last post and backed it up with a post of his own supporting Mike Huckabee.

The Pennsylvania State Republican Committee does it again

On Saturday, February 9, 2008, I traveled to Harrisburg for a meeting of the Republican State Committee. I arrived at 7:15 a.m. for the Central Caucus breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Partway through a pleasant time in preparation for the regular State Committee meeting, the breakfast began to go downhill.
First, Arlen Specter entered. Despite being a member of the Berks Committee and the State Committee, I have not voted for Arlen Specter since 1986. When he has entered a room, I have deliberately avoided meeting him or shaking his hand. In two appearances here in Berks county, I have picketed him twice and walked out of his breakfast as he got up to speak. I detest the man.
He came to tell us that we all need to join the “team.” What team was that? Why, the team supporting John McCain for President. I have been a Huckabee supporter almost from the beginning and remain so. Even if I had not, sending liberal Arlen Specter to tell me I needed to join the team of a man whose conservative credentials I have questioned for eight years is not the way.
No sooner had he left, but we were treated to a visit from Tom Ridge, who is only slightly more palatable than “Darlin’ Arlen.” Once again, we were told we needed to join the “team” in supporting John McCain. I remarked to some of the Berks County delegation that State Committee should really consider firing the public relations firm that had advised it that the best way to win conservatives to McCain was to send two liberals.
Presently, breakfast ended, and we filed into the main room to conduct the main meeting. Now, after the “logrolling” to which we had been subjected at breakfast, it was obvious that the “leadership” of State Committee had already decided that we needed to endorse John McCain despite the fact that no notice was given whatsoever that an endorsement on the presidential primary was going to be on the agenda.
During the course of the meeting we were again subjected to excruciating speeches by Specter and Ridge, extolling the virtues of their fellow liberal, John McCain. To their voices were added a third: Bob Asher. Bob is the national committeeman from Pennsylvania and the former chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Committee. We met once while I lived in Montco. I was supporting a candidate for governor in the 1994 GOP primary (not Ridge). I was placed at the Montgomery Township precincts 2 and 7, since they both voted in the same location. While I was there, I met Bob Asher and his stooge, then Sheriff Frank Lalley, as they came down to berate the Montgomery Township committeeman and Area 9 District leader because there were poll workers in Towamencin Township who had the effrontery to pass out Ernie Preate material when the county party had endorsed Tom Ridge. As a result of this and other experiences in Montco, I have steadfastly opposed endorsements in Berks County since I joined the GOP committee in 1996.
In addition to my having to listen to another windy address, Asher actually suggested a “McCain-Ridge” ticket. The only thing I can say is that if the GOP wishes to retain its conservative base, it better not “carpet-bomb” it with that ticket. Specter had suggested that the Republican base was not enough to win as demonstrated in 2006. On the contrary, in 2006, the results were a direct response to the Republican Congress moving away from the Party’s base with its huge spending increases and giant budgets. Now, Specter, Ridge, and Asher are suggesting more of the same. Perhaps Asher can yet succeed in doing for the State Committee what he has lately accomplished in Montgomery County.
Nevertheless, the Communist Party Central Pennsylvania State Republican Committee proceeded to follow its “leaders” and endorse John McCain. At this time, John McCain’s running mate is uncertain. But before I go out and twist the arms of many who are as conservative if not more conservative than I, McCain will have to appease me with a conservative and much younger running mate.
I would rather criticize Hillary or Obama for being liberals for four years than apologize to my friends for John McCain being liberal when he’s not supposed to be.

Better Red Than Dead!

In a perfect world, Billary's Machiavellian politics would've landed both of them in Leavenworth a long time ago,....
In a perfect world, the Thompson/Romney ticket would've garnered 90% of the electoral college vote.
But we don't live in a perfect world, do we?
The TrekMedic started this Red November campaign supporting Fred Thompson; but, he was too slow and his momentum came too late.
Then the TrekMedic threw his support behind Mitt Romney; but, he was blind-sided by the two-pronged McCain/Huckabee attack.
And so now we are left with McCain and two extreme leftists as our choices.
We already know what the White House will be like if Shrillary or Obama win,..we've seen it under the aegis of Empress Nancy and her Senatorial lapdog, Harry Reid.
People fear that John McCain is too much of a RINO. Given his actions with Sen. Feingold and the Gang of Fourteen, those suspicions are quite valid.
But we don't know what the future holds, do we?
George W. Bush ran on a campaign of "compassionate conservativism" against cries from the left of religious zealotry. And "W's" compassion went by the wayside on September 11, 2001, courtesy of a few religious zealots we didn't see coming.
There are those who would defer to the Dems in the hopes that things will get so bad, the only choice in 2012 would be going back to the Republicans.
We cannot afford the blood of 3000 more innocents to occur before that happens!
And there are some who would rather sit this election out on principal. That's not only hypocritical, but a black eye to not only our Constitution, but to those who dabbed the fingers in pots of ink to exercise the same rights for the first time in generations.

Sitting out this election just because McCain is going to be our nominee is sheer stupidity! We still have the House and Senate to think of among other things.
Besides if the word's "President Elect-Clinton" or "President Elect-Obama" dont scare the absolute hell out of you, YOU have something wrong with YOU!
Staying home will be a Vote for Hillary, or Obama and God know's who in the House and Senate.
I am and alway's will be a FredHead, but he left me, then Romney left me, but did I leave the Republican Reservation? Hell No!! A True Republican/Conservative does'nt leave the reservation just because they didnt get thier perfect candidate!
McCain has done alot of things we ALL didnt approve of and we flat out called him out on and when it came to Amnesty, we got it stopped! ALL OF US.
He said in his speech (See Post Below) that he has heard us. And he swears he will consult with his own Republicans and Conservatives that will be surrounding him that know what WE want and how pissed off WE will get if HE does'nt listen to us.
And then there's the SCOTUS. He will appoint Conservative Judges, if Obama and/or Hillary are elected, they wont.
And then there is the War on Terror. Do we want to go back to a police action? Do we want to be atttacked repeatedly? Instead of confronting those that want to kill us and keep them busy somewhere else than here at home? Well Clinton nor Obama will, they will withdraw and Al-Qaeda will be able to set up a safe haven in Iraq and our Soldiers will have died in vein.
Does anybody really want that?
I'm just saying, I would rather have some kind of Conservative then none!

And that, gentle readers, is it. We must put aside our differences and unite to save this country from the slippery slope of Socialism. We MUST vote in November and we MUST vote for John McCain!

I was captured by McCain's speech today. He said to those of us (That ususally disagree with him) That he will seek council in the Republicans and Conservatives he will surround himself with should we disagree.

More Thoughts on Who's Left,....

John McCain-Disaster?
There seems to be a great deal of angst among conservatives regarding the probability that John McCain will be the GOP nominee. They feel as though the Reagan coalition has been irreparably (at least this year) sundered, and that the GOP is basically doomed. Rush Limbaugh has gone so far as to say that he would consider withholding his support for McCain even into the general election, which is more or less unprecedented for him. Many other prominent conservatives have expressed much the same sentiments.
Of course, maybe McCain wouldn’t be getting so much support if so many conservatives hadn’t thrown their support to Rudy Giuliani early on. Values voters are perhaps the Republican Party’s strongest supporters—did anybody think that they would support the unapologetically pro-abortion Rudy Giuliani?
In any case, John McCain isn’t much worse than conservative favorite Mitt Romney. McCain is weak on taxes. Romney’s health care plan mandated health care for everybody. McCain supports amnesty. So did Romney, till he noticed the polls. McCain believes in global warming. Romney supports stringent gun control laws.
Such a list could go on for a long time. The main difference between the two candidates is: Mitt Romney cares about conservatives enough to pander to them. John McCain won’t even do that. In McCain’s favor, he probably has a better chance of winning a general election than Romney does.
Take your pick—a probable loser who will pander to conservatives, or one who has a real chance who seems to enjoy antagonizing us. There are no good choices.

With the Florida primary out of the way, and the wannabes falling by the wayside, the Republicans are looking at a dwindling number of choices.
Some of us saw the future in the likes of Fred, Rudy and Duncan Hunter.
Fred, the most Reagan-like, started too slow and couldn't gain any traction. By the time he got his stride, the parade had passed him.
Rudy spoke too frequently on his past and not enough on the future. Reading between the lines, one could arguably say Rudy only wanted the nomination to face Shrillary head-on and, if successful, wreak a personal vengeance on al-Qaeda 9/11.
Duncan,..well, the media chose to pay more attention on the bigger voices and his ideas were ignored.
And so we are left with these:
Mike Huckabee:
We live in a country that paradoxically was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles, but is Constitutionally prevented from forming a theocracy. Many times, Huckabee's ideas sound more like they are coming from Huckabee-the-Baptist-minister and less like Huckabee-the-governor. As a strict Constitutionalist, I can't abide with that kind of thinking.
John McCain:
He's old. Yes, get used to hearing that from the Clinton war machine ad nauseum if he gets the nod. It wasn't an issue with Reagan, but this is the Clintons we're talking about, so the rules are out the door.
I also have serious issue with some of his allegiances. Whether is was the McCain-Feingold Bill, which stifled free speech, or his Gang of Fourteen venture, McCain has repeatedly worked counter to the Republican Party.
McCain would have us keep our Southern border open to every illegal and grant them amnesty when they arrive. He does this all in the name of the economy, yet McCain freely admits he is weak on driving the economy.
Make no mistake, John McCain is a war hero who endured a nightmare no one should ever experience, and for that I'll support him for the rest of his life, but a vote for McCain now is another vote for Hillary.
That leaves,...
Mitt Romney!
I've chosen to support Mitt for several reasons.
First, for the past thirty-plus years, America has indicated a tendency to vote for governors, rather than legislators. Whether is was Carter, Reagan, Clinton, or Bush 43, America seems, for better or worse, best served by chief executives, rather than those who make self-serving legislation.
Second, Romney is a businessman, and a successful one. America needs to continue to be run more as a business (a service economy to the nth degree) than a benevolent master (the Clintonian socialist Utopia of her "Village). Goods and services are created only to meet the need of the the target market (America) and done within the limits of expenditure and affordability.
Finally, Mitt was executive director of the USOC during the Salt Lake Games of 2002. Getting the world to come to the United States is hard enough, but getting them here in the shadow of 9/11 and then persuading a supposedly non-partisan body to tastefully honor the departed of 9/11 was a massive undertaking of diplomatic legerdemain. And, the games finished under budget and on time, despite a local scandal.
As the last major campaign push, Super Tuesday, draws closer, consider Mitt Romney. For now, for the future, and for our security.
